The match was initially played in day 22/08/2001 with the result 0-1, but Tirol Innsbruck claimed that there was a Russian player (Pimenov) who should have been sent off in the last minutes of the game, since he had already been booked with a yellow card and the referee, Mario van der Ende, showed the second card to the wrong player. UEFA decided that the whole game be repeated at the same venue and the original score be cancelled.
